Ladies Who Lunch
My office culture is more of a grab something, work at your desk kinda place. A group of my work colleagues and I try to go out for a nice sit down lunch a few times a year. We started this tradition by going to Washington DC Restaurant Week and trying a new restaurant near our office. Last year’s Restaurant Week choice seemed like it was going to be a great experience but actually was very disappointing. We decided to try it again anyway and thankfully we did. It was great. Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Great Laughs. I am lucky to work with some great ladies. We at some point in the past joked about wanting to be socialites who only have to go to lunches and our Restaurant Week social gathering gives us an opportunity to live out this fantasy. With a price fixed 3 to 4 course meal for $20.08 you can try some of the best restaurants in the city in the middle of the day.
Our group is all close in age and most of us work on the same team. We often can be heard laughing, gossiping, and sharing stories in the hallways of the office. From our weekly debriefs on Project Runway or America’s Next Top Model to styling tips and celebrity gossip there is nothing like having great girls to work with!
This year we ventured to Ceiba (see the full review at Escape Together) and it was one of our best lunches yet. Unfortunately it was also a goodbye lunch as one of our ladies was leaving the following week for a new job. Hopefully she will have a new group of Ladies Who Lunchto hang with. If not she can call in and we will conference her in on our Project Runway debrief.
I also am planning a big move and will no longer be working full time in DC. I will definitely have to make my plans coordinate so that I am in DC whenever Restaurant Week rolls around.
As far as my list this perfectly met my desire to try some place new every month. The food (except for the dessert) was amazing. And besides a small frustration at the end the lunch was tons of fun. I recommend it for others looking for a great meal near Metro Center in DC. They also have an extensive cocktail menu which we plan to return and try. Since this was “lunch” we thought it might be inappropriate to go back to the office after sampling the many mojitos on the menu! Next Time…
