Today is my Celebrating Life day. It is part of my list to celebrate life on the date of my birth every month. Unfortunately I was so busy this month that I almost forgot. Thankfully I have a colleague who remembered and asked what I planned to do to celebrate. There are no set rules on what I have to do to “Celebrate Life”. It could be buying myself a gift or doing something I wouldn’t normally do. It can be social, relaxing or even spiritual as long as in the end it is about me celebrating me. Since this was basically last minute we decided to go to happy hour at a restaurant near our office, Restaurant K. Perfect Choice!

From the street it was a little intimidating with the dark wood and white table clothes but after hearing the Motown Classics playing overhead and talking with the very friendly French host, it seemed more like we had walked into a weird Cheers rerun. This place offers a great relaxing happy hour. A wonderful Ginger Vodka cocktail, french fries, hot dog bites, and queso fundido later and the celebration was complete. The icing on the cake were the tootsie rolls, lemon heads  and fireballs they had at the door instead of boring mints. I think I have just found my new favorite place! :)

As I reflect on my first month in this new decade I have made some accomplishments on my list. I have started to call people more, lost some weight, tried new things and places and actually decluttered one email account. I am excited about the next 30 days and feel that my list has helped to force me to actually get out and do things. I am starting to feel like I am more in control of my life and it is a great feeling. Let’s hope that the positive feeling continues. Happy Celebrating Life to Me!
