Happy Half Birthday to Me!
Having a December birthday sucks especially if you are within days of the holidays. I know I sound like I a greedy 10 year old but people think they can give you ONE gift for Christmas AND your birthday (something they would never even think to do if your birthday was in September, April, August, or June). It is also a very “family” time of year with people spending most of the time with their families. Getting people together to celebrate with me days after Christmas has pretty much been impossible and so I decided this year to celebrate with a girls night for my half birthday in June.
Several of the ladies that attended were also reaching this turning point in their lives and it provided us with an opportunity to reflect on our twenties and our expectations for our life in our thirties. Over great food, mojitos and margaritas we shared our frustrations, joys, fears and dreams. We all felt that this new decade would provide us with a sense of confidence we didn’t have in our twenties and the opportunity to live out our lives to the fullest. The theme of the party was “The World is Ours” and we left renewed with inspiration to take on the rest of the year.
We had such a great time that I added it to my list and it will be something that I will do every year. I highly recommend a half birthday celebration for anyone who has a birthday that happens to fall on or around a holiday. Or even better, celebrate any day of the year with your friends who will also turn the same age as you this year with one big party for everyone. This makes it an even better celebration for all!
